In this service led by Worship Committee member Bob Simoni, both recorded and live music from the musical "Godspell" will be used to help make the point that we UU's are the lights of the world.

Soul Repair

In this service, you'll hear reflections from Bob Meyerson on his 4 years in the service, a reading by Stuart Fink on the book "Soul Repair: Recovering from Moral Injury after War" by Rita Nakashima Brock and Gabriella Lettini, and lastly a sermon by Rev. Dr. María Cristina Vlassidis Burgoa.

Ritualizing a Brave New World

We made a ritual of our choices without paying attention. Doing things we hate, being too cool to care, coming not fully human, compromising our integrity, putting on a face to each other, being less intimate with ourselves.  Now what if we made a ritual about choices we would like to have for ourselves? Maria Theresa Gallardo  will be our guest preacher.

Rev. Gallardo was ordained by the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Philippines (UUCP) in April 2013 and called to serve the Bicutan Congregation in Manila. She is currently the Balazs scholar at the Starr King School for the Ministry.

 

Beltane

Beltane honors Life. It represents the peak of Spring and the beginning of Summer. Earth energies are at their strongest manifesting growth and renewal. The word 'Beltane' originates from the Celtic God 'Bel', meaning 'the bright one' and the Gaelic word 'teine' meaning fire. Join us as we celebrate the Sun's light to nurture the emerging future harvest.

Earth Day

Jennifer Koney, Mary Lou Schuller & Rev. María Cristina Vlassidis Burgoa speak about climate change and things they are doing and things we can do to minimize its impact.  After the service, visit with Hayward Animal Shelter animals, join the children's project, listen to a presentation from Citizens Climate Lobby, plus an update from SKUU's Climate Action Team. Check out plant section outside and bring seeds to plant/share.

Easter

The Easter story of resurrection is symbolic of rebirth and renewal and retells the cycle of the seasons, the death and return of the sun. Easter Sunday is a festival and holiday celebrated by millions of people around the world. It is also the day that children excitedly wait for the Easter bunny to arrive and deliver their treats of chocolate eggs. Join us as we explore some of the ways Easter is celebrated around the world. And yes, there will be an Easter egg hunt immediately following the service!
