MEET A MUSLIM NEIGHBOR
Monday Feb 08, 2016
Monday Feb 08, 2016
Led by guest speaker Hina Khan-Mukhtar
Too often, we hear about Muslim women only from the media or from
political pundits who are trying to rally the world to help “save” them
from their religion and culture. But what do Muslim women themselves
actually think about being Muslim? It behooves us to learn the truth
from people who are fully capable of articulating their own opinions and
sharing their own stories. For that reason, we are inviting one of our
own Muslim neighbors to come share her thoughts and experiences with us.
Please join us for the conversation!
Hina Khan-Mukhtar is a mother of three boys and one of the founders of a homeschooling co-operative in Lafayette, California, which now serves over 35 homeschooling families in the East Bay. In addition to teaching Language Arts to elementary, middle school, and high school students, she is also involved in interfaith dialogue. Hina is a monthly contributor to The Muslim Observer’s “Raising Our Ummah” column and also writes for Seeker’s Hub where she shares parenting advice and ideas for nurturing spiritual traditions in childhood.
