MOTHERING OURSELVES – MOTHER’S DAY SERVICE

Self-love was once considered sinful and later psychiatry identified it as “narcissistic” But loving, caring for and “mothering” ourselves contributes to our own health and the well-being of our society. This Mother’s Day service will focus on how we can “mother,” care for and even love ourselves.

Join us for a service of personal sharing about the effects and impact of unconscious bias on individuals and communities.

Earth Teach Me

Earth Day Service

The service will celebrate the 45th annual Earth Day and explore the principle of “biophilia” – our human sense of kinship with other living things that share this planet. The Earth Day Fair will take place on the grounds after the service, and during the service for our children.

LET IT BE A DANCE WE DO

On this Sunday, during which the congregation will elect a Ministerial Search Committee to begin the journey toward a new settled minister, our interim minister will explore some of the roles of the minister and the complex relations of minister and congregation.

FAITHFUL FOOLS

Led by Rev. Mary Ganz and Melissa Fafarman

What still connects us? – Members of the Faithful Fools street Ministry walk in the Tenderloin asking, “What holds us separate? What keeps us separated? As we walk the streets, what still connects us?” Turns out, it’s a good question to ask, anywhere we walk – even in congregational life. Join Rev. Mary Ganz and Melissa Fafarman in a service celebrating Faithful Foolishness.

PRACTICING MIRACLES WITHOUT A LICENSE

Passover/Easter Service

Led by the Rev. Joy Atkinson

Join us for a celebratory service of the season, with singing, readings by our children, an egg communion, the choir and a  homily. Children will join us for the first half of the service, and will then hunt for eggs, and pet food cans, on the grounds. Note: We will bring flowers instead on the first Sunday in June, the date closest to the original Czech Unitarian flower service in 1923.

Not My Will…But Thine

We accomplish so many things in our lives by sheer acts of will. But what happens if we can’t control a situation? How can we let go enough to let something unfold in its own time, of its own accord? The sermon will explore the sometimes useful discipline of yielding and surrender.
