Winds of War by Al Murdach. War and peace are much in the news lately. It was even bigger news in 1941. Join us to return to that time and hear about the debates that rankled the media and the public then. Hard to believe that then the U.S. public was, according to polls, 90% anti-war and pro-peace. But this would quickly change. Come and find out what this was like and what happened. You will hear a discussion sponsored by the America First Committee. Sound familiar?

The Horse That Almost Got Away

Psychiatrist D. W. Winnicott writes that we often go about our lives with an attitude of compliance, as though the world is something to be fitted in with, demanding adaptation. The attitude of compliance tells us to put our dreams away in the back of the bottom drawer of the chest of drawers. But our dreams are part of creative living, Winnicott says, which makes life worthwhile. On this Sunday, we stand up for the world of dreams and for pulling dreams through into reality as a source of creativity, aliveness, and self-actualization.

Celebrating All Families

Mother’s Day can be an opportunity for recognizing the diversity of family structures. Some children have a mother and a father, others may have two moms, two dads, a single mom or dad, grandparents raising them, divorced parents or a whole range of other family configurations.  Inclusive celebrations can serve as an important learning experience by providing opportunities to discuss and acknowledge the many kinds of families in our communities.
